Description
Burgundy Domaines such as this are a rare find – even more exceptional because the vineyard holdings here are almost entirely made up of Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels in Vosne/Echézeaux.
La Grande Rue runs between La Tâche and Romanée-Conti in the heart of Vosne-Romanée and was elevated to Grand Cru status in 1989. The vineyard has been in the Lamarche family since the 1930s, acquired as a dowry and maintained as a premier cru until its promotion. It remains one of the most discreet but prestigious plots in the Côte de Nuits, known for its finesse, perfume and understated power.
The 2019 vintage is a fine example of Nicole Lamarche’s increasingly precise and terroir-focused approach. Ripe but not overdone, this shows lifted red fruit, florals, and a subtle savoury edge. The texture is seamless – silky and long – with a quiet intensity that builds with time in the glass. A grand cru of grace and detail from a vineyard that continues to reward close attention.
