    • Description

Tapanappa is a family-owned, biodynamic estate founded by Hugh and Jenny Cranna in 1983, located in the cool-climate Wrattonbully region of South Australia. Renowned for its rigorous commitment to organic and biodynamic practices, the winery focuses on site-specific expressions that reflect the purity and minerality of its gravelly terra rossa soils.

The Foggy Hill Pinot Noir 2022 is sourced from a single, east-facing vineyard block planted in 2002 at 100 to 120 metres elevation. Vines are hand-pruned and managed under biodynamic principles, with minimal intervention in the cellar: grapes are destemmed (10 percent whole bunch), fermented with indigenous yeasts in small open vats, and matured for 10 months in French oak (20 percent new) to preserve freshness and structure.

In the glass, the 2022 Foggy Hill shows a bright ruby hue with a silken clarity. The nose is lifted and pure, offering notes of wild strawberry, red cherry and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely textured, delivering flavours of cranberry, pomegranate and subtle spice, framed by gentle acidity and supple, polished tannins. The finish is long and mineral-inflected, leaving a delicate savoury note. This Pinot Noir eloquently expresses Foggy Hill’s cool-climate elegance and is drinking beautifully now, with the potential to evolve for another 8 to 10 years
