With the arrival of Spring and the promise of longer and warmer days ahead, the anticipation for the season of celebrations builds. This goes hand in hand with the events schedule at United Cellars truly ramping up!
We've just kicked off the annual Grand Cru Chardonnay events which happen across the month of September. Last week's Sydney event was a fantastic evening, and a full house! The broad spectrum of the grape that is Chardonnay was expertly presented by our own staff and representatives from some of our suppliers. With an incredibly diverse collection of wines from South Africa, America, Chablis, Burgundy, Margaret River, Mornington Peninsula and Geelong (along with others), everyone in the room agreed they'd discovered more than a few new favourites! The Brisbane and Melbourne Chardonnay events follow in the next few weeks.
One event we're particularly excited about, happening at the end of the month on 29th September, is a Grower Champagne showcase and masterclass, at a magical little harbourside spot that oozes rustic French charm. The restaurant L'Heritage is in a beautiful historic building overlooking Chowder Bay. With fine French cuisine and water views from every side, it's a hidden gem and the perfect spot for our Grower Champagne evening.
The night is the opportunity for us to launch the arrival of the wines of two new Grower producers, exclusive to United Cellars. On the night there'll be video footage of the wineries and the vineyards, along with interviews with the winemakers. It will be a rare and special insight into the world of Grower Champagne. Not only will you be tasting six of these new exclusive imports - all scored 94 points and above by our resident Master of Wine Alistair Cooper - but favourites such as Egly-Ouriet and Agrapart will also be on pour, all matched to a beautiful French menu. This will be a memorable event, and is one not to be missed!
Next up, across October, we'll be hosting the annual Grand Cru Champagne events in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Tickets are selling fast and this is perhaps our most popular event each year, with over 30 French Champagnes showcased in Sydney, and a smaller, best-of-the-best selection taken to the Brisbane and Melbourne Champagne dinners. And news flash for Perth-dwellers... We're back! We're excited to be taking the Grand Cru Champagne dinner over to WA on Thursday 17th November. Stay tuned for more details to come.
The premium events keep on rolling as we move into November, beginning with an event that presents the opportunity of a lifetime for Burgundy fanatics. On the 4th November, in-house at the United Cellars Office in Woolloomooloo, we'll be hosting 'Burgundy's Finest and Most Exclusive'. Offering the chance to taste the wines of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti (DRC) and Domaine/Maison Leroy, along with other top Burgundy producers, tickets are extremely limited. The wines will be matched with a specially-curated menu by Chef Tim Freitas.
If that doesn't whet your appetite for fantastic events with fantastic wines, don't worry, there's even more in store, including a best-of-the-best 'Masters' wine dinner in Sydney (hosted by our UK Master of Wine Alistair Cooper), a Halloween-themed 'BlackCard Members Only' blind wine tasting, and a premium Bordeaux wine degustation dinner. Keep an eye on the Events tab of the website for these and other upcoming events.
