Tasting Notes

Chateau de Laubade is an agricultural and winegrowing estate located in Sorbets, in the Gers, in the heart of the finest Bas Armagnac terroir. The 105 hectares estate in a single block around the chateau, built in 1870, it has been owned by the Lesgourgues family for three generations. Today, Denis, assisted by his sister, Jeanne, and brother, Arnaud, continue their family's constant striving for excellence, with the aim of producing the most outstanding Armagnacs. Appearance: Light amber with golden reflections. Nose: Fresh and lively with aromas of young fruits, vanilla, licorice, and subtle herbal notes like ivy and linden blossom. Palate: Soft and approachable entry with bright fruit tones evolving into more structured toasted oak and spice. Finish: Medium length with warming spice and gentle sweetness. Overall: A vibrant and youthful Armagnac offering a modern take on tradition - ideal for cocktails or casual sipping.

Distillation & Provenance

Crafted only for our premium spirits

Distillation

Château de Laubade Signature 5 Year is the house's entry-level aged expression, representing the distillery's philosophy applied to a younger spirit. Produced from Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Baco, and Folle Blanche grapes grown on the estate's 260-acre single-block vineyard in Sorbets, distilled in the traditional Armagnacais column still and aged for a minimum of five years in 400-litre Gascony oak barrels. Despite its relative youth, the Signature 5 Year shows the Laubade house style: fresh dried fruit, light vanilla, and the distinctive aromatic character of the Armagnacais still. Bottled at 40% ABV.

Provenance

Château de Laubade is a family-owned Bas-Armagnac estate located in Sorbets in the Gers department of Gascony, south-west France — in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac appellation, the most highly regarded of the three Armagnac sub-regions. The estate was established in 1870 and acquired in 1974 by Maurice Lesgourgues. It is now run by the third generation of the Lesgourgues family — Denis, Jeanne, and Arnaud — who have built Laubade into one of the region's most celebrated producers. At 260 acres, it is the largest single-block vineyard estate in Bas-Armagnac, giving it exceptional control over grape varieties, harvesting, and wine quality at the source.
