Tasting Notes

Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year Old encapsulates the very spirit of luxury and craftsmanship of Glenfiddich while surpassing the very notion of Single Malt, as it sets out to redefine moments of celebration through a new and extraordinary drinking experience.

Created for the non-conformists, it has been uniquely crafted as a surprising delight, at every sip, for those tearing up the rule book and who want to celebrate big life moments in a whole new way.

The remarkably rich whisky, already intense in flavour thanks to long maturation in American and European oak cask, is finely finessed with influences from French cuvée casks. This is the only Glenfiddich Single Malt to undergo this exceptional finishing.

Distillation & Provenance

Crafted only for our premium spirits

Distillation

Glenfiddich Grande Cru 23 Year Old is part of the Grand Series, produced from single malt matured for a minimum of 23 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks at the Dufftown distillery. The expression is then finished in rare French cuvée oak casks — casks formerly used to hold fine French wines — lending the aged Speyside spirit additional layers of dark fruit, vine blossom, and oak complexity that are distinct from sherry or bourbon wood. 'Grande Cru' references the classification of France's finest wine terroirs and signals the ambition of this premium cask-finished expression. Bottled at 40% ABV as part of the Glenfiddich Grand Series.

Provenance

Glenfiddich Distillery was founded on Christmas Day 1887 by William Grant in Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland — a location chosen for its access to the Robbie Dhu spring water. The house has remained in the ownership of the William Grant & Sons family for five generations, making it one of the very few major Scotch whisky distilleries still in the hands of the family that founded it. Glenfiddich is the world's most-sold single malt Scotch whisky and has been central to the development of cask finishing in the industry — its Malt Master David Stewart pioneered the double-maturation technique in the 1980s, which is now used across dozens of expressions.
