Description
Mt Bera Vineyards, a family-owned estate established by Greg and Katrina Horner in 2008, is located in the cool-climate Adelaide Hills. The estate is notable for its commitment to traditional red varieties such as Shiraz alongside Austrian grapes like Blaufrankisch, creating blends that are both distinctive and expressive. The Amphitheatre Shiraz–Blaufrankisch 2018 showcases this philosophy, uniting the depth and richness of Shiraz with the aromatic lift and spice of Blaufrankisch. Fruit was hand harvested from hillside vineyards, fermented in small lots, and matured to enhance structure while preserving freshness. The wine delivers dark berry and cassis with liquorice and black pepper, layered over supple tannins and a fine mineral thread. The finish is long, spiced and textured, reflecting both the unique blend and the clarity of Adelaide Hills terroir. This is a rare Australian release of its style, demonstrating innovation grounded in regional character.
