    • Description

"The 1985 vintage holds the record for the latest harvest ever collected, making this wine the sole Château d'Yquem produced in December. Thirty-nine years after its challenging and risky collection, this patiently awaited Château d'Yquem shines with deep orange nuances in its color. On the nose, it is distinguished by an intense medley of candied citrus, conjuring images of bitter orange, tangerine, and kumquat. Its aromatic freshness and purity are striking, enhanced by rustic and saffron-like impressions. Notes of dried apricot envelop the senses and carry through to the palate, which is characterized by a silky touch and exquisitely candied flavors.

By immersing you in the universe of this great wine, we are offering a unique and memorable experience which perfectly reflects this timeless vintage. You and three people of your choice will be invited to take part in a private tour of the estate, followed by a tasting of one vintage from the 21st century. We will be delighted to personalise your cherished wine case at your request." - Chateau D'Yquem

    Chateau d'Yquem

Château d’Yquem has always been prized by wealthy wine lovers and has a long and interesting history starting in the Middle Ages when the estate belonged to the King of England.

Some characteristics for which Château d'Yquem are known for is their complexity, concentration, sweetness and longetivity. A bottle will keep for a century or more if properly looked after. In this time, the fruity overtones will gradually fade and combine with more complex secondary and tertiary flavours. In 1996, wine expert Robert Parker scored the wine a perfect 100 points.

The vineyard has 126 hectares in the Sauternes appellation, but only 100 hectares are in production at any time. Roughly 20 hectares are held in reserve each year, as grapes from newly planted vines are not worthy of the chateau name for five to seven years. In a poor vintage, it is sold anonymously. The vines consist of 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon blanc, though the proportions are thought to be more equal in the final wine. On average, 65,000 bottles are produced every year.
