    Kilikanoon

Kilikanoon was established in 1997 by winemaker and proprietor Kevin Mitchell when he purchased the property of the same name in South Australia's Clare Valley. Kevin's father Mort Mitchell planted and tended to Kilikanoon's Golden Hillside’s vineyards for over 40 years, and was a massive influence for Kevin. Kilikanoon has been recognised both in Australia and internationally and has received high praise from some of the world's most respected wine critics.

Clare Valley makes the best use of nuances of the sub regions to make Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet and Grenache, and is one of the premium wine grape growing regions of the world. The sub regions display individual micro-climates that favour these varieties. Altitude varies between 300m-600m and soils vary through the valley, from red brown 'terra rossa' over limestone, through to black alluvial soils in low lying areas. Temperatures reach as high as 20 degrees Celsius in summer which helps to keep the natural acidity, varietal flavour and aroma of white wines and encourages tannin, structure and colour in reds.
