Moko Hills ‘Kakano’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2024
Moko Hills ‘Kakano’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2024
Tasting Notes
Sourced from the rugged, sun-drenched slopes of Bendigo, the Moko Hills 'Kakano' Pinot Noir 2024 is a masterful collaboration between Donald van der Westhuizen and Central Otago winemaking royalty, Claire Mulholland (Burn Cottage, Amisfield). Rising from a challenging but rewarding vintage that yielded incredibly concentrated fruit, this "new-wave" Pinot Noir is crafted predominantly from the famous Abel clone. Mulholland and van der Westhuizen utilized 100% whole-bunch wild fermentation and 12 months in seasoned French oak to let the pristine Bendigo fruit truly speak for itself. The result is an incredibly delicious, perfumed, and light-on-its-feet expression that eschews heavy extraction in favor of vibrant, crunchy red fruit, subtle savory spices, and a beautifully textured, irresistible finish.
