Tasting Notes

Present on the finest tables of France, hailed by the specialised press as “among the best of the Grande Champagne”, the Cognacs François Voyer reflect the history of a family, which is delighted to make you share its passion.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Down among the flowers: touches of rose, jasmine, clove pink, combined with the first flavours of fruits: peach, plums. The old maturation of this Cognac has given it its vanilla aroma and this light and sweet aroma that only an old Cognac has.

Palate: A woody appearance, powerful but flexible and above all very elegant.

Finish: Not to rich and perfect for its intended pairing as a cocktail.

Overall: Even if a cocktail always suits a Napoleon, you will better appreciate its delicacy dry or on the rocks, or with mineral or still water. Progressively, the multiplicity of aromas will come to you.

Distillation & Provenance

Crafted only for our premium spirits

Distillation

François Voyer Napoléon Grande Champagne Cognac is produced from estate-grown Ugni Blanc grapes on the chalk soils of the Grande Champagne premier cru at Verrières. The cognac is distilled on the lees in traditional Charentais copper pot stills and then aged in French oak barrels for between twelve and twenty years — the age range designated Napoléon under current Cognac regulations. This expression is presented at 15 years of age. The extended maturation in Grande Champagne develops the delicate floral and fruit-driven characteristics of the premier cru alongside subtle oak spice and beginning rancio. Bottled at 40% ABV.

Provenance

Maison François Voyer is a family Cognac estate with origins in 1795, situated near the village of Verrières in the Grande Champagne — the premier cru of the Cognac appellation. The Chauchet-Voyer family have been distilling and ageing eaux-de-vie in oak barrels for over five generations, and the house accumulated a significant stock of old vintages in the twentieth century under Guy Chauchet, who enriched the cellars with long-aged reserves from the 1960s onwards. The estate is now operated by cellar master Pierre Vaudon, who farms 28 hectares of his own vines in Grande Champagne and also works with additional vinegrowers across the premier cru zone.
