House of Arras Masterclass with Ed Carr Thursday 22nd October 2026 Sydney 6.00pm

Few individuals have shaped Australian sparkling wine quite like Ed Carr.

Described by James Halliday as “Australia’s greatest sparkling winemaker,” Carr has spent decades establishing House of Arras and Tasmania among the world’s serious sparkling wine producers.

For this special masterclass, Ed will personally guide us through a selection of House of Arras wines, with a particular focus on 2015 – a vintage he regards as one of the finest he has seen.

Beginning with Brut Elite NV and Brut Elite Rosé NV, we will then explore three distinct expressions from the 2015 vintage: Vintage Rosé 2015, Grand Vintage 2015 and Vintage Blanc de Blancs 2015. Together, they provide a fascinating opportunity to examine how variety, site selection, blending and extended maturation shape the Arras style within a single exceptional Tasmanian vintage.

The masterclass will also look deeper into the importance of extended ageing and late disgorgement through Grand Vintage 2009 – 2nd Disgorgement, before culminating with the extremely limited E.J. Carr Late Disgorged 2008 served from Magnum.

It is a fitting finale from the prestige cuvée bearing Ed’s name, and an opportunity to hear directly from the winemaker whose work has helped redefine the international reputation of Australian sparkling wine.
