When Marino Selak arrived in New Zealand from Croatia in 1906, he found himself longing for the familiar flavors of home—olive oils, traditional Croatian cuisine, and most of all, fine wine. Recognizing the need for quality winemaking in his new land, he and his nephew Mate established Selaks in 1934, laying the foundation for what would become one of New Zealand’s most beloved wine brands.

From humble beginnings in West Auckland to our thriving vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, Selaks has remained true to its roots—combining tradition with innovation to craft exceptional wines. Each bottle tells the story of our winemaking family, honoring the dedication and passion passed down through generations.
