    • Description

Two-thirds merlot, one-third cabernets and 16 months barrel-ageing, 65% new. This is a powerful wine with lots of character. A complex nose of ripe plum, blackberries, wood spice and tobacco. On the palate, a subtle herbaceous note, liquorice and chocolate and lots of plump, juicy red and black fruit. The tannins are ripe and firm and the wine is full and powerful. It will benefit from a few years in the bottle, but can be enjoying younger with some decanting and some hearty, full flavoured food such a marbled sirloin steak or an aged comté.

    Chateau-Laroze

Founded in 1882 by the Gurchy Family. It is a 27-hectare (67-acre) vineyard is located at the foot of the hill to the north-west of the medieval village of Saint-Emilion. The vines grow around the Château. The 27 hectare Bordeaux vineyard of Chateau Laroze is planted to 68% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is in its own wayk unusual for Saint Emilion. This is because the entire vineyard is in 1 single, very large parcel plot. The vines are on average 20 years of age.
