Founded in 1979 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One is a pioneering Napa Valley estate known for its Bordeaux-style blends. The winery is located in Oakville, where its carefully selected vineyard parcels benefit from the region’s ideal climate and terroir. Winemaking follows a meticulous process, combining traditional Bordeaux techniques with modern innovation under the leadership of winemaker Michael Silacci. The 2018 vintage benefited from an exceptional growing season in Napa Valley, with a long, even ripening period. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec, it offers deep concentration, refined tannins, and layered complexity with notes of dark berries, violet, graphite, and subtle spice.
