Notes below from winemkaer Keppell Smith,
2024 - What a year!
It didn’t seem extraordinary from a growing point of view but the results are outstanding and speak for themselves.
After rejecting all the 2023 Savaterre reds as not being up to standard (and being tipped down the drain) this is a pleasing outcome. I have never released a Pinot Noir so young but I feel the harmony of this wine is exactly where I want it.
It is destined for a promising future.
The 2024 Savaterre is an immensely seductive wine of great definition and complexity. The aroma alone will have you at “hello”.
Is this the best Pinot Noir I have ever made?
Certainly it’s a contender with the 2022. And it looks fantastic this young. While not the most powerful rendition of Pinot Noir we have produced it’s just so intricate, detailed, seductive and complex. More Burgundy than Australia.
Tasting Notes -
The aroma leaps from the glass. Lifted ethereal, rose petal, raspberry, red cherry, blueberry, violets, exotic spice, white truffle and a slight herbaceous wet brambles undergrowth character.
Balanced and complex on the palate. It’s difficult to define any one flavour. It's vibrant and lively with an intensity that impresses, an intricate fusion of fruit flavours tempered with fine tannins and a long acid spine.
A seamless harmonious wine of great weight and complexity.
