Maxime Graillot is a respected Cornas producer in the Rhône Valley's Northern section, and Domaine des Lises Equis represents a specific vineyard holding within this prestigious appellation. Cornas is exclusively Syrah, grown on steep granite slopes that concentrate fruit and tannins. The 2009 vintage was warm across the Rhône, allowing Syrah to reach optimal ripeness and extract deep colour and structure. These northern Rhône soils—decomposed granite, lean and rocky—produce Syrah of extraordinary intensity and minerality. Graillot's traditional approach emphasises the vineyard site's character.

The 2009 Cornas followed traditional Northern Rhône methods. Syrah was hand-harvested from steep vineyards and fermented in concrete or wooden vessels with controlled temperature management. Extended maceration extracted the grape's powerful tannins and dark fruit character. Aging in French oak barrels allowed slow oxidation and aromatic development typical of age-worthy Cornas. The 2009 vintage's warmth produced wines of notable power and richness, reflecting the growing season's intensity.
