Description
Comando G’s Las Umbrías 2015 is a standout expression of Garnacha from the rugged Sierra de Gredos in central Spain. Crafted by Fernando García and Daniel Landi, this wine exemplifies their commitment to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, capturing the essence of high-altitude, old-vine Garnacha.
Sourced from a mere 0.5-hectare east-facing parcel in Rozas de Puerto Real, the vineyard sits at 1,000 meters above sea level on granite soils with patches of clay. The 60-year-old vines yield fruit of remarkable purity and finesse. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, followed by a 60-day maceration and aging for 12 months in 500L French oak barrels.
In the glass, Las Umbrías 2015 presents a pale hue, belying its aromatic intensity. The nose is highly expressive, offering floral notes alongside red berries. On the palate, it is delicate yet structured, with fine acidity and a mineral backbone. The finish is long and nuanced, reflecting the wine's elegance and complexity.
This vintage showcases the potential of Garnacha from the Gredos region, offering a harmonious balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality. It is a wine of both power and grace, suitable for aging or enjoying now with dishes like roasted poultry, grilled vegetables, or aged cheeses.
