Tasting Notes

Crushed and pressed while still cold, juice was removed from skins immediately. Clarified before fermentation with an aromatic yeast, a cool ferment preserved delicate aromatics. Ferment was stopped at 6% alcohol leaving delicate sweetness.

Vineyard Cultivation

Bimbadgen is a Hunter Valley estate at Pokolbin in New South Wales, established in the 1970s and known for Semillon and Shiraz alongside a broader range. Its sparkling Moscato is built around Muscat fruit, with the listing attributing the growing region to Rutherglen in north-east Victoria, a warm inland district on alluvial and sandy loam soils long associated with aromatic Muscat. As a non-vintage style, the wine draws on fruit picked early to retain natural acidity, grapey aromatics and moderate sugar rather than reflecting a single season. Vines are managed for fresh, fragrant fruit suited to a light, sweet sparkling. Fruit sourcing and estate detail should be confirmed with the producer.

Vinification

This is a frizzante-style sweet sparkling made in a fresh, aromatic idiom. Muscat grapes are picked early to preserve grapey perfume and bright acidity, then gently pressed to protect delicate aromatics. Fermentation is carried out at cool temperatures and arrested while considerable natural grape sugar remains, giving low alcohol and pronounced sweetness. The sparkle is typical of the style, produced by tank (Charmat) method to keep primary fruit character and light effervescence to the fore rather than through bottle ageing on lees. There is no oak. The wine is bottled young for immediate drinking. Precise fermentation and carbonation details should be verified with Bimbadgen.
