Tasting Notes

The very first 100% Adelaide Hills no- and low-alcohol sparkling wine — made from premium fruit grown in our award-winning vineyards and crafted at our Nairne winery. After fermentation, we gently remove the alcohol using the cutting-edge spinning cone method, preserving the wine’s fresh aromatics, lively fruit profile, and signature chalky texture for a truly complete, adult drinking experience.

Aromas of orange blossom, red apple and gooseberry lead into a crisp, vibrant palate of lemon zest, brioche and pink grapefruit. Fine bubbles carry through a bright mid-palate, finishing long and refreshing.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

Sidewood Estate is a substantial family-owned Adelaide Hills producer, owned by Owen and Cassandra Inglis, farming vineyards around Oakbank and Nairne in the cool, elevated Onkaparinga Valley. Its higher-altitude sites sit on sandy clay-loam over ironstone and schist, where cool nights and a long season give bright, aromatic white fruit with fresh acidity. 'Nearly Naked' is the estate's zero-alcohol sparkling, built from a house blend of estate and Adelaide Hills white grapes selected for delicacy and natural acidity, made to a consistent non-vintage style rather than one season.

Vinification

A dry white base wine is made conventionally from cool-fermented Adelaide Hills white varieties, then de-alcoholised to zero per cent, most likely by spinning-cone or vacuum distillation to protect aromatics while stripping the alcohol. The de-alcoholised wine is balanced and carbonated to give a crisp, dry sparkle. Because the alcohol, and much of the body it carries, is removed, the focus falls on preserving citrus and orchard-fruit aromatics and keeping sugar in check. Exact base varieties, de-alcoholisation technology and finishing NEEDS VERIFICATION.

About this Wine

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
