Peat from the Appenzell high moors gives our Säntis Malt "Edition Dreifaltigkeit" its typical smoky note when the barley is malting over the fire. It was chosen by Jim Murray as "European Whisky of the Year 2010" with the following words: "What we have here is of such controlled, immense scale and magnitude that this whisky has to be savored". dark mahogany Intense charcoal aromas! Honey and wood.
If you extinguish a wood fire with water and then bite into the fresh charcoal - you get the stunning, intense aroma of this Säntis Malt. Intense charcoal flavors, sweet and complex. Long lasting! An incredibly complex whisky that constantly evolves in the air.
