Tasting Notes

equila Talavera is packaged in a ceramic bottle, which is heated and created in ovens at 1260° Celcius. Talavera take its name from the pattern of the design painted onto the bottle. This tequila is an authentic quality 100% agave and is a delight to the palate. Talavera has the super premium quality of Cofradia products, which is aged in white oak barrels for 6 months.

For over 50 years, La Cofradia have been distilling and bottling Tequila and it is with this length of experience that has made them one of the finest and best in the market. Producing top quality products with high quality agave using traditional methods but in a modern industrial plant. Their tequilas are bottled in blown glass or ceramic bottles.

La Cofradia (NOM 1137) was the original distillery that produced the now much sought after Clase Azul tequila.

Distillation & Provenance

Crafted only for our premium spirits

Distillation

La Cofradia Edicion Talavera Reposado is presented in a hand-painted ceramic bottle inspired by Talavera — the colourful tin-glazed pottery tradition from Puebla and Tlaxcala, Mexico, recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The tequila itself is produced at La Cofradia's NOM 1137 facility in Tequila, Jalisco, from mature blue Weber agave piñas slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens before fermentation and double distillation in copper pot stills. As a reposado, the tequila is then rested in American oak barrels for a minimum of two months, developing light vanilla and spice character while retaining the bright, agave-forward freshness of the Jalisco highlands blue agave. Bottled at 40% ABV.

Provenance

La Cofradia is a tequila distillery (NOM 1137) based in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, within the Denomination of Origin for tequila. The distillery produces a range of tequilas from mature blue Weber agave (Agave tequilana Weber var. azul) grown in the Jalisco highlands, and operates as both a producer of its own branded expressions and as a contract distillery for private and branded tequila labels. La Cofradia's portfolio includes the Edicion Talavera — distinguished by its hand-painted ceramic Talavera-style bottle — and the Gran Cofradia range. All tequilas are produced within the CRT-regulated Tequila Denomination of Origin.
