    • Description

A blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, this is exceptional quality Champagne for an unbelievable price!

Offering notes of pear, hazelnut and subtle toasty spice on the nose, it follows with a creamy mousse underpinned by hallmark Champagne acidity. Excellent aperitif wine and a true crowd pleaser.

In addition to making outstanding wines, Champagne Drappier are the first Carbon Neutral Champagne House, by reducing their carbon footprint to zero after a 10 year effort. 2017 that number will increase to 75%. The producer avoids using air conditioning in its cellars by utilising a free cooling system, with isolated air conditioning systems strategically used throughout the property.

Further offsetting its carbon footprint, Drappier has recently invested in a wind turbine company in India and, as of Janaury 2016, claims to be the first Champagne House in the world to have reduced their carbon emissions to a net zero carbon footprint.

“Investing in a sustainable project in India is our way of expressing gratitude to this small, but dynamic, market for Champagne”, said Michel Drappier, winemaker and CEO of Champagne Drappier. The house also plans to “aggressively reduce fuel consumption” over the next five years, with a number of projects already underway.

    Champagne Drappier

Based in the Urville region of Champagne, Drappier is something of a cult classic producer. Although you may not have never heard of the tightknit family winery, they're favourites to many - including, famously, the late, great Charles de Gaulle, who moved as close as he could to the winery in his retirement. Though Drappier was founded in 1808, the vines were planted and the cellars were built around Clairvaux Abbey by Saint Bernard and the Cistercian monks during the 12th Century. These cellars, some of the few that survived two World Wars, are among the oldest and most extensive in Europe today. Today, Drappier is one of the finest boutique producers in the world. Famous for making high quality wines with limited intervention and minimal sulphur, their small yields of fruit promise a premium expression of some prime Champagne real estate.
