Australian Single Malt Whisky - 47% ABV | Fleurieu Distillery, Goolwa, South Australia

Coastal Origins, Subtle Expression
Released in a limited run of just 250 bottles, Telemachus is named after the feline companion on Carole King's 1971 Tapestry album cover. Distilled from South Australian barley in copper pot stills near the mouth of the Murray River, it is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-wine casks. Bottled at 47% ABV, it offers a gentle, coastal character rooted in place and patience.

The nose is light and charming, with aromas of granita biscuit, soft honey and citrus zest over a base of clean malt. The palate follows with lemon sherbet, creamy cereal sweetness and a touch of marzipan, all wrapped in gentle spice. A whisper of coastal brine lends subtle structure without overpowering the core profile.

The finish is crisp, lightly warming and balanced, with notes of sweet spice, malt and citrus lingering with quiet poise.

Final Thought
Telemachus is an elegant expression from Fleurieu - unassuming but composed, and deeply regional. For those who appreciate understated craft and coastal nuance, it is a contemplative dram with a confident sense of place.

Fleurieu 'Telemachus' is a single malt whisky produced at the Fleurieu Distillery in Goolwa, South Australia. Named for the son of Odysseus in Homer's epic — a figure of patience, perseverance, and eventually found purpose — the expression reflects the character of the distillery's longer-matured stock. Produced from malted barley fermented, distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in oak casks on the Goolwa Wharf Precinct — where Southern Ocean maritime humidity and salt air shape the development of the maturing spirit. Bottled at 47% ABV to present the whisky's full coastal and fruit-forward character.

Provenance

Fleurieu Distillery was established in 2013 by Gareth and Angela Andrews in Goolwa, on the Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia — on the Goolwa Wharf Precinct, where the Murray River meets the Southern Ocean. The Andrews had previously founded the Steam Exchange Brewery on the same site in 2004, before pivoting to single malt whisky production. The distillery's maritime location — exposed to the salt air and humidity of the Southern Ocean — plays a significant role in the maturation character of Fleurieu's whiskies, which are typically rich, fruit-driven, and influenced by the southern coastal environment.
