Critic Scores

A combination of whole bunches and de-stemmed, crushed fruit is transferred to large concrete tanks for fermentation. Basket pressed to French oak (up to 40% new) for ageing. The winemaker believes the '18 sits at the very top of recent Warner shiraz releases. It's certainly a beauty, and hard to resist broaching now, such is its complexity and integration. A confident, gently expressive young shiraz. Middle Eastern spices, tilled earth, bay leaf, Damson plum, light herbals, dark brooding berries. Warm and inviting, there's a lick of savouriness on the palate that lifts and catches the tastebuds' attention. That's when the fun starts. This wine takes you places. Close your eyes ..

Very deep red/purple colour, with a perfumed spicy and herbal bouquet. The palate is full, open and soft, and remarkably accessible for its youth. It's peppery, briary and gentle of tannin, with a very soft, medium-length finish. Some vegetal and humus notes. A very charming shiraz.

About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

Victoria

The wine region of Victoria has the highest number of grape vines than any other state in Australia. It is home to over 600 wineries and well known regions such as Yarra valley, Heathcote, and Rutherglen. Victoria is situated in the southeastern corner of Australia where due to the location, the climate has a cool maritime influence and is known for their outstanding Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, along with producing Australia’s most famed dessert Muscat and Topaque wines.

There are a number of different terroir levels throughout the wine region of Victoria which leads to the production of different ranges of wines. In the southern region of Victoria, the vines are regulated by the cool winds of the Bass Strait. Central Victoria consists of mostly flat terrain that tends to be drier and warmer than the rest of Victoria, which results in more fruit concentrated wines. It may be surprising to note that Victoria is the third most productive wine region in Australia, seeing as it does not have as many areas suitable for viticulture, which has resulted in the cellar door culture of Victoria being concentrated with smaller, but more personal boutique wineries.
