Tasting Notes

Handpicked Wines Museum Release Capella Vineyard Chardonnay 2015 is a distinguished expression of premium cool-climate winemaking, cultivated near the pristine shores of Western Port on the renowned Mornington Peninsula. This limited-release Chardonnay showcases the exceptional terroir of Capella Vineyard, a meticulously managed 1.6-hectare parcel planted on a VSP trellis system, dedicated exclusively to Chardonnay alongside Pinot Noir.

Certified organic under the expert guidance of Senior Viticulturist Ben Bussell, the vineyard embraces regenerative agricultural practices that enhance soil health and biodiversity, reflecting Handpicked Wines' commitment to sustainability. This focus on environmentally responsible viticulture delivers grapes of remarkable purity and vibrancy, resulting in a wine that captures the unique minerality and refined elegance characteristic of the Mornington Peninsula region.

The 2015 vintage benefits from a temperate growing season with balanced warmth and cooling maritime influences, allowing for optimal ripening that preserves freshness and complexity. Critic Scores

Clones P58 and Mendoza, whole bunch-pressed, fermented in French barriques (33% new), 60% mlf, matured for 11 months with regular lees stirring. Has another dimension of intensity and length - quite remarkably so - compared to its Collection sibling. This has everything, all the many winemaking steps proved 100% correct. In terms of flavour, what ye seek, ye will find.
