    • Description

This Heirloom Vineyards A'Lambra Barossa Valley Shiraz was produced from our best Barossa Valley Shiraz Vineyard whose clones and viticulture embody the very best in cutting edge but old school viticulture and winemaking. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch-by-bunch, naturally open fermented, basket pressed and stored in French oak barriques from bespoke coopers.

The palate is velvet. Texture. Tannin. Tannin just in the background providing essential support and structure to the rich and deep fruit flavours. Savoury plums and white chocolate. A long acid finish that stretches this tightly coiled red wine out. Here is the quintessential Barossa Valley shiraz. Flavours run the gamut; eucalyptus to raspberry; blackberry to pepper; olive to plum.

This wine is suitable for vegans.

AROMA Dark liqueur chocolates and that distinctive Barossan shiraz black and pink peppercorn. A neat, dovetailed mix of winemaking bouquet (cinnamon, musk, sandalwood and cigar box) and vineyard aromatics (shiraz’s aniseed, fennel, tar, roses, plums and prunes). Melodious, complimentary, and perfectly wedded.

PALATE A textural red wine with an underlying velvet fruit plushness. There’s restraint, however. Whilst mouth-coating it is also refreshing, pert, alive and attuned. Lively and giving rather than a monster in a bottle. This is a savoury and long shiraz that sings. Bright and yet dense black fruit flavours remain to the forefront. A world away from the heavy and dead Barossan shiraz fruit dirges of the past. Evolution.

OVERALL This powerful and yet graceful and balanced red wine is - like all the highest quality wines - best suited to the simplest, most seasonal and authentic foodstuffs. A good butcher’s best sausage with some mashed potato and sauerkraut? Great wine and authentic food - it is not rocket scientology
