Tasting Notes

Dense dark purple colour in colour, with a classic Coonawarra bouquet of black current, cherry and sweet vanilla oak characters. The palate demonstrates a classic ‘dry red’ style with rich midpalate fruit and density, balanced with fine Cabernet tannins and length.

A warm summer with clear nights helped to provide further concentration of colour and flavour in the grapes with an early April harvest. The individual parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot were picked on separate dates and fermented separately in a selection of small stainless steel vessels.

Each ferment was pumped over twice daily for enhanced extraction of flavours before being pressed they were transferred to a selection of French and American oak featuring 20% new oak. Each parcel was matured for 20 months before barrels were individually selected for the final wine.

Critic Scores

Impressively composed and classically styled, this Cabernet blend delivers depth and poise. Cassis, dark plum, and cedar aromas lead to a finely structured palate of concentration and seamless flow. Silky tannins and integrated oak support a long, persistent finish. Beautifully crafted with hallmark regional character and exceptional balance.

Wonderfully composed with seductive complexity, showing dark fruit richness, baking spice, smoked meat, and roasted nut aromas on the nose. The palate offers terrific weight and an expansive mouthfeel, splendidly complemented by silky texture and finely pitched tannins. This is multi-layered with beautiful harmony and structure, making it immensely appealing. $80.00. Sept 2025.

Crimson/maroon, this is finely crafted with notes of cloves, leather, mulberries, bergamot, plums, coffee grinds, cherries, bay leaves and cold tea. There is juicy acidity here, with tight, fine-grained tannins, balance and length, with impressive intensity. Expect it to provide pleasure for at least the next eight to ten years.

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
