Torbreck’s The Struie brings together fruit from two iconic South Australian regions—Barossa Valley and Eden Valley—showcasing the contrast between Barossa’s power and Eden Valley’s cooler, more aromatic character. It reflects Torbreck’s Rhône-inspired, old-vine philosophy.

Rich yet balanced, it combines blackberry, plum, pepper and spice with fine tannins and fresh lift—an impressive but approachable Shiraz for steak, roast lamb, barbecue or a relaxed dinner.

Tasting Notes

Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2019 brings together premium fruit from two iconic South Australian regions, the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Crafted in Torbreck’s Rhône-inspired, old-vine style, it captures the contrast between Barossa’s renowned depth and power and Eden Valley’s cooler, more aromatic character.

Rich yet balanced, this premium Australian Shiraz reveals expressive layers of ripe blackberry and plum, complemented by pepper, savoury spice and subtle Rhône-inspired complexity. Fine-grained tannins provide structure, while bright freshness brings lift, length and poise to the finish.

Impressive yet approachable, The Struie Shiraz 2019 is a refined choice for pairing with grilled steak, roast lamb, barbecue dishes and relaxed dinners. Sourced from a premium private cellar.

Critic Scores

This vintage of The Struie is almost entirely from the Barossa, with 8% Eden Valley fruit. The hot, dry growing year has resulted in a concentrated but sleek bottling with good cellaring potential. Vivid aromas of freshly crushed bramble berries mingle with violets, scrubby herbs, spices and chocolate. The mouthfeel is supple and fruit driven, supported by fine yet muscular tannins. About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
