Tasting Notes

Tread Softly is a contemporary range of wines that are naturally medium in weight and lower in alcohol. Tread Softly is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint and chooses sustainable vineyard management and winemaking techniques to ensure its production has a minimal impact on the environment. For every case of Tread Softly sold, the brand proudly commits to planting an Australian native tree – to date, that is over 1.3 million trees.

Harvested in the cool of the morning to avoid the warmer temperatures of the day. The fruit is quickly delivered to the winery for destemming and crushing prior to a regular fermentation in stainless steel tank. A small component of the blend is cool distilled whilst another undergoes ultra-membrane filtration. With very gentle handling, these components are masterfully blending back into the original parcel of wine to arrive at a well-integrated, lighter finished ABV..

Light but aromatic cues of lemon, apple, and pear. A fresh and vibrant wine with flavours that flow effortlessly to fill the palate and finish long, pure and refreshing with cleansing acidity. This wine is very light in feel but with terrific flavour and energy.

Vineyard Cultivation

Tread Softly is a contemporary, sustainability-minded brand from Fourth Wave Wine, built around naturally lighter, easy-drinking styles. The Everything Except zero-alcohol range is hand-crafted from good-quality South Australian grapes, drawn from established vineyards across the state's warm-to-temperate growing regions. As a de-alcoholised wine there is no single vintage; the base is assembled from selected parcels of Pinot Grigio chosen for freshness and aromatic clarity. The brand's environmental focus extends to the vineyard through more sustainable management, and to a commitment to plant an Australian native tree for every six-pack sold - over 1.3 million trees to date.

Vinification

Grapes were harvested in the cool of the morning and delivered quickly to the winery for destemming, crushing and a standard cool fermentation in stainless steel to make a base wine. That finished wine was then de-alcoholised: one component was cool-distilled while another passed through ultra-membrane filtration to strip alcohol at low temperature and protect delicate aromatics. The parcels were gently blended back to the original wine to reach a zero-alcohol result, preserving lemon, apple and pear character with fresh, cleansing acidity and a light but flavoursome palate.

About this Wine

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
