Tasting Notes

Whisky of Voodoo is a series of Small Batch, exquisitely crafted whiskies from 2026 Independent Bottler of the Year - Brave New Spirits. Each release explores a different distillery or region, and a different type of cask maturation, resulting in bold and interesting flavours outside the usual.

The Smoking Curse is a masterful fusion of Highland & Islay peat. This 8 Year Old Ardmore was aged in a combination of an ex-Cognac barrel, and an ex-Laphroaig cask from Islay.

Ardmore, already having a Highland peat-smokiness of its own, is allowed to combine with the medicinal peat of Islay, and a subtle wood-smoke from the toasted French Oak Cognac cask, for a whisky that wraps the tongue complex and smoky flavours.

It is little wonder that this small-batch whisky won Best Single Malt at the Meininger ISW Competition this year.

On the nose, charred rosemary, sun-baked peat, smoked oak shavings and coffee. Honey syrup, dry barley and mint drops.

On the palate, two-way peat, where forest meets the Northern sea, Salted caramel and dried orange, wine gums, plums and balsamic glaze.

On the finish, christmas spices, a fireplace down the street, long and subtle.

The only curse this whisky brings is that the bottle doesn't last long enough…
