    • Description

Rockford Local Growers Semillon 2021 undergoes a meticulous maturation process after fermentation, spending time in a combination of large, seasoned oak casks and hogshead barrels, as well as a separate unwooded component on light yeast lees. Once blended and bottled, this wine is aged for approximately two years before its release, showcasing dedication to traditional Australian winemaking and continuing the legacy of rich, dry, full-bodied Barossa Semillon. Rockford Local Growers Semillon 2021 is a wine that embodies the classic Barossa Semillon style, with its weight and richness of flavour. Its taste profile is a delightful blend of ripe lime, honey, flowers, green melon and a hint of cinnamon. The wine has a grainy/waxy texture, balanced acidity and a slight green herb undertone, culminating in a fairly rich finish. One of the unique features of this wine is its ability to age gracefully. While it is already a delicious wine, it has the potential to develop even more complexity and depth over time. Rockford Local Growers Semillon 2021 is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes. It is best served slightly chilled and is a perfect accompaniment to grilled seafood, fresh garden salads, or a roast Barossa chicken. Whether you are enjoying it now or saving it for later, Rockford Local Growers Semillon 2021 is a wine that is sure to impress.

    Rockford

Rockford Wines was established in 1984 and is located in Tanunda, South Australia. Robert O'Callaghan and Ben Radford are the winemakers. Robert O’Callaghan acknowledged at an early stage the future of regional definition, the importance of heritage and the preservation of both physical and viticultural resources, and is one of the most important characters in today’s Australian winemaking.

The fruit, from 60-140 year-old vines, is sourced from local growers in the Barossa including around Kalimna, Ebenezer, Moppa Springs, the Eden Valley and Central, which gives tremendous colour, power and richness to the fruit.

Two retailers in Sydney, and one each in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth sell Rockford wines, along with a few restauraunts. The Rockford Basket Press Shiraz is very scarce though and is likely to be unavailable. Since its release in 1984, The Basket Press Shiraz has been produced every vintage, and represents what Rockford is all about more than any other wine. Rockford was also ranked No.1 on TripAdvisor among 22 attractions in Tanunda.
