Tasting Notes

The Grand Vintage 2015, the 17th release of the wine, is a classic expression of the vineyard, vintage and maker. A wine of uncompromising quality enriched by the great complexity of character that follows seven years on tirage. The Grand Vintage accentuates the delicacy and balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the pristine cold climate vineyards of Tasmania.

A wine of uncompromising quality enriched by the great complexity of character that follows seven years on tirage. Lifted nuances of desiccated pear and peach, an exotic and persistent palate structure with characters of Miso.

Critic Scores

"This is another richly flavoured fizz, dense, full and playing the aldehydic card of toast and creaminess with a stacked deck of complexities. Yet the aura is less obvious and more savoury. What I really like about this is the complete, mineral-clad filigreed finish. A superlative Tasmanian fizz."

"Light-to-mid yellow colour, bright and clear; the bouquet is nutty and lightly toasted bread, nougat and hazelnut while the palate is rich and full yet also very elegant. Ample, flavoursome and falls on the generous side of the ledger as opposed to delicacy. Barrel work is apparent. There's a meaty suggestion of reduction on the mid and end-palates. The finish is soft and rich and it ends pleasingly dry, but not the slightest bit austere. Long aftertaste. In the final analysis, a very satisfying glass of bubbles."
