Critic Scores

Bright, medium to deep brick-red colour, with a very savoury, earth and ironstone bouquet, very complex and loaded with dried herb and dried flower nuances, a trace of dried animal skins, the palate enormously intense, robustly full-bodied and massively powerful. It fills the entire mouth with flavour that lasts and lasts. A monumental Barolo - and stacked with detail.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

The 2015 vintage across La Morra delivered ideal ripening conditions with warm, dry summer months allowing Nebbiolo to achieve complete phenolic maturity and optimal fruit concentration. Ascheri's Sorano cru benefits from its northeast-facing aspect and distinctive clay-limestone soils, which naturally moderate the vintage's intensity whilst preserving elegant freshness and complexity. La Morra's cooler microclimate compared to nearby Monforte d'Alba results in wines of refined finesse and elegant structure development. Ascheri's traditional low-yield cultivation ensured concentrated flavour development and premium quality expression.

Vinification

The 2015 Sorano fermented with native yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks with extended maceration, extracting the site's full tannin potential and structural depth throughout extended fermentation. Malolactic fermentation proceeded naturally, followed by 18 months French oak ageing using new and aged barrels to allow complex development and flavour integration throughout. Regular racking and careful cellar management guided the wine's maturation and development throughout the ageing period. Unfiltered and unfined bottling preserved the wine's distinctive mineral character and natural complexity.
