Tasting Notes

Fresh and lively aromatics of greengage, vintage rose and a hint of sherbet. The palate opens with nectarine flavours with a blend of other stone fruits sitting behind it. A crunchy texture provides great balance and dept before finishing with a hint of grapefruit and cooking apple. A refreshing aromatic wine with great energy.

Critic Scores

A fledgling wine label from the Coal River Valley, where James and Vanessa Bresnehan have joined forces with the formidable winemaking duo of Anna Pooley and Justin Bubb. Light straw with aromas of green apple, citrus and white peach with hints of stone, wildflowers, almond paste, fennel, petrichor and nougat. Impressive clarity, detail and mineral line with a textural, lemon curdy flow and bright, mineral-laden exit with a touch of grapefruit pith.

Vineyard Cultivation

Bremley Estate is a young Coal River Valley label in southern Tasmania, where James and Vanessa Bresnehan have partnered with winemakers Anna Pooley and Justin Bubb. The Bremley Vineyard is the northernmost site in the Coal River Valley, one of Tasmania's warmer, drier and more continental sub-regions, prized for its low rainfall and free-draining soils that suit slow, aromatic ripening. Pinot Blanc is an unusual and prized planting here, farmed for freshness and detail. The 2023 Tasmanian season was cooler and later than average, extending hang time and helping the fruit build the fine aromatics and taut, mineral acidity that define this style.

Vinification

The Pinot Blanc grapes were handpicked and whole-bunch pressed to gather clean, delicate juice, then fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve the wine's green-apple, citrus and white-peach aromatics. Fermentation was kept crisp and reductive to protect fruit purity and build a fine mineral line rather than breadth, with brief lees contact adding a lemon-curd texture without heaviness. No new oak was used. The finished wine shows impressive clarity and detail, a textural, mineral-laden flow and a bright, grapefruit-pith exit, made in a fresh, aromatic and energetic style for early drinking.
