Vineyard Cultivation

Caduceus Cellars, founded in 2002 by Maynard James Keenan, represents Arizona's distinctive natural winemaking movement, focusing on unconventional varieties and biodynamic viticulture principles and practices. Dos Ladrones Blanco draws from diverse Arizona vineyard parcels selected for their distinctive mineral character and naturally high acidity development. The winery's firm commitment to biodynamic viticulture emphasises soil health, biodiversity, and minimal chemical intervention throughout the entire growing season. Arizona's unique desert terroir imparts considerable minerality and freshness to the fruit; the non-vintage structure allows flexibility to blend across multiple vintages.

Vinification

Dos Ladrones Blanco reflects Caduceus's natural winemaking philosophy, employing wild yeast fermentation and minimal sulphite additions to preserve the fruit's intrinsic character and complexity throughout. Varietals undergo separate or co-fermentation depending on the blend composition, with extended skin contact where appropriate for additional textural complexity and mouthfeel development. Minimal intervention, unfined and unfiltered bottling maintain the wine's natural expression and authenticity. The non-vintage structure allows purposeful blending to ensure consistent quality and character across multiple releases.

About this Wine

Caduceus Cellars

Maynard James Keenan is a Pioneer in Arizona Winemaking and created the Caduceus Label for his Arizona Vineyard, Merkin Vineyards. One day, inbetween recording and touring for his award winning bands Tool, A Perfect Circle & Puscifer, he looked out from his patio and realised that the climate, soil and terrain around his home in Northern Arizona was similar to that of some of the great wine regions of the world.

Caduceus Cellars & Merkin Vineyards are a small, independent family run winery with very limited production.
