Tasting Notes

Nestled in the Alps' foothills, you'll find Prosecco's finest expression. These verdant rolling hills, covered in vines, produce the most intense and complex wines. So much so that the wine is called Prosecco Superiore.

Prosecco DOC grapes grow in a very large, flat area. This spans the provinces of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (over 89,000 acres or 36,000 ha). Whereas Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG is tiny, just 19 x 16 miles (30 x 25 km) across, only 21,500 acres (8710 ha), and very hilly.

Ca Marian Millesimato Extra Dry DOC is a fresh and easy-drinking prosecco that impresses with its lightness, fruity profile and pleasant balance between sweetness and acidity. The taste is dominated by green apple, lime and citrus tones, complemented by subtle hints of honey, pear, melon and pomelo. The aroma is reminiscent of white flowers and lemon peel. The wine has a light straw yellow color and a gentle, not too intense effervescence.

Critic Scores

This is immediately appealing on the nose, showing rockmelon, apricot, Gala apple, and floral aromas, leading to a juicy palate that's beautifully rounded and lively. Delightfully expressed with a long, refreshing finish.

Vineyard Cultivation

Ca'Marian is an Italian Prosecco label whose Millesimato is a vintage-dated Prosecco DOC, with the listing placing it in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-east of the country. The wine is made from Glera grown on the region's alluvial gravel and clay soils in a temperate, Adriatic-influenced climate that lends freshness and aromatic lift. Being millesimato, it is drawn from a single year, 2023, a season that produced healthy, aromatic Glera across north-east Italy. Vineyards are managed for the floral, orchard-fruit ripeness and crisp acidity that define fine Prosecco, with early picking preserving perfume and drive. The specific estate and commune behind the label should be confirmed.

Vinification

A vintage (millesimato) Prosecco DOC Brut produced by the tank (Charmat/Martinotti) method. Glera from the 2023 harvest is gently pressed and cool-fermented to retain its floral and pear-apple aromatics, then given a second fermentation in pressurised stainless-steel autoclaves that captures the sparkle while keeping the fruit fresh and unoxidised. As a single-vintage wine it expresses one season rather than a multi-year blend. It is finished at a Brut dosage for a crisp, gently fruity palate and a fine, persistent mousse, and bottled young for immediate enjoyment. Precise residual sugar and autoclave ageing time should be verified with the producer.
