Tasting Notes

The Chandon Brut Rose NV features aromas of fresh strawberries, pomegranate and cherry Danish are overlaid by a complex bouquet drawing from ageing on yeast lees. Subtle wild mushroom and savoury elements sit in the background. The palate is refreshing with layers of redcurrant, cherry sorbet and pink grapefruit zest alongside hazelnut and biscuit flavours. Chandon Brut Rose is delightfully dry, with a creamy texture and persistent acidity.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

Chandon Australia was established in 1986 when Moet & Chandon chose the Yarra Valley as the base for its Southern Hemisphere sparkling house, building the winery at Coldstream on the valley floor. For the Brut Rose, fruit is drawn from cool-climate sites across the Yarra Valley and higher-altitude vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges and beyond, where clay-loam and granitic soils and elevation preserve natural acidity. As a non-vintage wine it is built for consistency rather than a single season, with Pinot Noir leading the blend to give colour and red-fruit character alongside Chardonnay and Meunier. Vineyard management focuses on early picking to retain the freshness and fine acid line that underpin the house style.

Vinification

Grapes are hand- and machine-picked early to hold acidity, then gently pressed with the free-run and early press fractions kept for the base wines. Primary fermentation is in stainless steel to protect fruit purity, and the rose takes its blush from a proportion of still Pinot Noir added before bottling. The wine is made by methode traditionnelle, with the second fermentation completed in bottle and maturation on lees to build texture and subtle autolytic complexity. Reserve wines from earlier years are blended in to maintain the non-vintage style. After disgorgement a brut dosage sets the balance, giving a dry, red-fruited sparkling with a fine, persistent mousse.
