Critic Scores

The high definition of the bouquet is highlighted by the incredible number of pixels present! Freshness is also emphasized from the outset. The nuances of violets, blueberries, blackberries, and spices are just a part of the olfactory spectrum. Reduction is also noteworthy, an element that is one of wine's fundamental rights and a safeguard against any possibility of oxidation. The bouquet shines with energy and conquering ambition. On the palate, the wine makes a discreet entrance. It positions itself with precision and serenity, tracing a linear and creamy path. It reveals its power late, like a precious asset guarded. Thus, the compact tannins offer exceptional support and combine with an incisive, saline acidity to establish a most reliable foundation. A wine that is still developing, yet is already brilliant. He has nothing left to prove; he now simply has to bring to fruition all his plans. There's no doubt he'll succeed brilliantly, while also consolidating his position among the top three in the appellation. He's no longer waiting; he's operating within the natural order of things! He no longer needs to charm; he can simply convince. It may seem commonplace, but it's certainly more comfortable – 97 to 99 Points - Yves Beck

The most firmly constructed wine of the Calon stable of course, but it still delivers the combination of finesse and concentration that is typical of the best wines in 2025. Much more graphite and slate on the texture of this main wine, this is one of the wines that really showcases the highest potential of the vintage, and it is an exceptional Calon. So layered, iris bud, cassis, crushed violet flowers, espresso and cocoa bean. A slow unroll. 100% new oak. 3.6 pH. Yield 35 hl/ha, Harvest September 4 to 20. - 98 Points - Jane Anson

I have always tended to favor Château Calon Ségur in more temperate vintages, where its finesse and gentle character often feel more compelling than in hot, dry years. Yet 2025 has quietly reshaped that belief. It is almost hard to imagine that a wine known for its precocious nature can balance 13.6% alcohol with a pH of 3.60 so effortlessly. It feels like a peony born within flame, vivid and fragile at once, where even through the heat, you can still see dewdrops clinging to its petals. There is a tenderness here that stirs a natural sense of care, while its signature sweet freshness draws you inward time and again. It is a wine made to be shared with someone you love, expressing deep affection and devotion in the most understated way. - 97 to 98 Points - Alexandre Ma

Dark in color, the perfume delivers a wealth of red, purple, and white flowers from the start, then shifts to a display of red, with black pit fruits and berries. The vivid palate seals the deal with seemingly endless waves of ripe fruit, an array of spices, mint, and peppery chocolate. Long, refined, powerful, restrained, and focused, the finish seamlessly continues that theme. The wine blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. 13.6% ABV. Yields were 35 hectoliters per hectare. The harvest took place September 4 - September 20. This represents the earliest vintage in the history of the estate. The wine is aging in 100% new, French oak barrels. Drink from 2032-2065. - 96 to 98 Points - Jeff Leve

Calon stands out as a great success. Both intensely fruity and floral, very pure. With a large majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers a very digestible, very fine balance and above all a beautiful tension, thanks to preserved acidity, a lovely salinity and a long finish. - 96 to 98 Points
