Tasting Notes

"A sunny vintage marked by notes of ripe fruit, such as apricot, quince and mandarin orange. The nose is pure and intense, upheld by candied notes of orange peel. Hints of spicy aromas of saffron, cardamom and clove then emerge, bestowing the wine with wonderful complexity. Very fresh, full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it culminates in a saline finish making for a remarkably elegant wine.

By immersing you in the universe of this great wine, we are offering a unique and memorable experience which perfectly reflects this timeless vintage. You and three people of your choice will be invited to take part in a private tour of the estate, followed by a tasting of one vintage from the 21st century. We will be delighted to personalise your cherished wine case at your request." - Chateau D'Yquem

Critic Scores

The 1995 d'Yquem is pale amber in color. Notes of ginger ale, allspice, chamomile tea, and dried mango drift effortlessly from the glass, followed by nuances of honeycomb, toasted almonds, and stewed tea. The palate is rich and powerful yet with amazing tension from the invigorating backbone of acidity, lending wonderful lift and energy through the long ginger and lemongrass-laced finish. Yum! The blend is 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc with 137 g/l residual sugar. - Tasted May 2025

Tasted June 2024

Served from an ex-chateau bottle. The 1995 Chateau d’Yquem is moving into its secondary aroma phase. A deep golden color, it has a dense and almost Barsac-like bouquet with tangerine, apricot, acacia and melted candle wax. It displays good intensity, unfolding beautifully in the glass. The palate has a strident opening, with a slight bitter edge that lends this Yquem great tension. One can discern layers of marmalade infused with honey fruit, with a powerful, spicy finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is drinking perfectly now, but will surely age with style over many years. Tasted March 2014.
