(Margaux; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot; a final yield of 25 hl/ha; 13.5% alcohol; tasted three times, the final time at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin). This is very much how you now expect it to be, with the clear signature of Axel Heinz and of the infusion vinification that is responsible for its precision and sublime texture. It's incredibly pure, focussed, chiselled and precise with great fruit intensity, great harmony and an almost visceral sense of freshness but also equilibrium and poise. There's almost certainly more concentration and density in the mid-palate that in any previous vintage, but the wine is so pure, aerial and lifted that it's much more difficult to be definitive in answering the question - and it's a distraction anyway. I love the subtle, delicate florality (rather more developed in fact in the final sample tasted) and the way the rose petal and rose peppercorn notes almost seem to merge into one another. I love too the almost pulsating delivery of the cool, menthol-edged and essential freshness of the wine as it stetches itself out and unfurls over the palate. Cassis, graphite, chalky minerality, and spicy wood all define the 2025 Château Lascombes, a much tighter, more focused expression compared to the second wine. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from tiny yields of 25 hectoliters per hectare, harvested between September 8th and 25th, it's resting in 60% new French oak with a small percentage in foudre and amphora. Beautifully concentrated on the palate, it has full-bodied richness, ample tannins, and a great finish. This checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.59, and the purity here is first rate. - 95 to 97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

In The 17th Century The Estate Belonged To Antoine, Chevalier De Lascombes, And Has Kept His Name.some Locals Suggest The Estate, Which Is Situated On The Highest Knoll Of Margaux, Takes Its Name From "La Côte" (French: Height) Via "Lascote" To "Lascombes". Antoine De Lascombes Inherited Or Had Possession Of The Estate From The Durfort De Duras Family, With Whose Properties In The Bordeaux It Remained At First Integrated; Wine Is First Mentioned In The Eighteenth Century The Domaine Was Separated From The Property Of The Comtes De De Duras And Was Inherited By Jean-françois And Anne De Lascombes. Jean-françois De Lascombes Was A Councillor At The Parlement Of Bordeaux, King's Procureur At The Admiralty And A Member Of The Académie De Bordeaux . The Vineyard Remained The Property Of The Lascombes Family For Three Generations Until After The French Revolution.until 1860 The Estate Bore The Name Domaine De Lascombes.

Through Sales And Inheritance The Estate Passed Through A Succession Of Owners, Until It Was Formed Into A Company In 1926, With The Ginestet Family, Then Owners Of Château Margaux, As Major Shareholders. During The Later Stages Of World War Ii The Country House Served As A Headquarters For The Allied Forces.

Château Lascombes Was Purchased By Alexis Lichine And A Syndicate Of American Investors That Included David Rockefeller, In 1952. Shortly Before, Lichine Also Purchased Another Margaux Estate, Château Prieuré-lichine. Lichine Improved The Vineyards Through His Expertise And Commitment. In 1971 The Backing Company Was Taken Over By The British Brewing Company Bass Charrington, Bringing The Lichine Era To An End.
