Critic Scores

This vintage marks 40 years of Noble One, with the first bottles produced in 1982, and this one is a ripper: bright gold in the glass with aromas of candied pineapple, dried apricot, orange marmalade, night jasmine florals and vanilla bean oak, alongside a lifting light varnish note. On the palate, hints of biscuity oak mingle with the luscious sweetness—a feat of nature with naturally occurring botrytis rot—balanced by linear acidity and 10.5% alcohol, finishing with a light phenolic grip and miles of flavour. An incredible gift, and built to last 24 Jan 2026 - Melissa Moore

A reticent wine on the nose, this was a very good vintage for botrytis, so hold space for what is to come with time in the bottle. Marigold flowers, honeysuckle and loquat fruit. Golden-hued plums and pineapple turnover. There is a shortbread and baked madeleine biscuits thanks to the use of new oak but it sings a chorus behind the ripe fruit, which sits in front. Acidity is long and stretched at the seams which makes for a succulence. A very elegant wine with the power to take its avid drinkers into the far reaches of pleasure. This is a wine with a very long future and definitely the vintage to collect. - Shanteh Wale
