Critic Scores

The 2011 Comte de Vogue Musigny V.V. shows off a superb sense of both depth and harmony and this will be a quintessential example of Musigny with sufficient bottle age. The excellent nose jumps from the glass in a pure melange of red and black cherries, plums, lovely spice tones, a complex base of soil, violets, cocoa and a touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very transparent, with superb mid-palate depth, ripe, utterly suave tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and very classy finish. This will be a great wine.

Deep, dark red. An elixir of dark berries on the nose, with complicating notes of crushed stone, menthol and flowers. Thick but weightless and youthfully imploded, with an element of spicy acidity giving outstanding cut and primary character to the blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors. Finishes dense and strong, with powerful tannic support and late hints of espresso and bitter chocolate. Fully ripe in the context of the vintage, and built for an extended evolution in bottle

The 2011 Musigny Vieilles Vignes shows wonderful energy in its expressive floral notes. Sweet red-hued fruit turns darker in the glass, but it is really the wine's energy that stands out most. Overall, this is a fairly mid-weight vintage for the Musigny deeply marked by its resonance and balance. The 2011 is perhaps a bit less epic than some recent versions, but it certainly delivers considerable pleasure.

A remarkably attractively cool and restrained nose of various red berries, spice and a beautiful array of floral elements complements well the rich and equally cool mineral-tinged big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors. There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension on the clean and pure finish that delivers strikingly good length. This intensely mineral-driven effort is also clean and firm but with slightly better phenolic maturity to the supporting structural elements which should allow this beauty to age successfully for many years to come.

Flavors are lingering, delicate yet persistent: roses, violets, herbs, spices, earth. Trademark silky texture with a delicate palate and long finish. Sensual, crystalline and pure. Gorgeous
