Brilliantly composed wines – “perfectly structured without excess flamboyance,” these biodynamic 2022s shine with elegance, precision, and age-worthy finesse. (Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy Jun 2024).

Classic Lafarge purity – “ripe but the fresh is more red than dark,” showing exceptional energy, clarity, and terroir definition reminiscent of the great 1964 and 1966 vintages. (Frédéric Lafarge via Allan Meadows, Burghound Jun 2024)

"harmonious – my Lafarge word for the vintage. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Dec 2023." 91-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Tasting Notes

A 0.66 plot planted in 1949, 1964, 2012 Clay/limestone gravelly soil with red clay. 100% de-stemmed, not crushed, ambient yeast fermentation, aged in barrels (0-15% new), no fining, no filtration.

‘ The 2022 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru, which was the last cuvée to be racked, has a bright nose with dark cherries, raspberry and light sous-bois aromas that will knit together during the rest of its élevage. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins, perhaps just a tad unsettled post-racking. Still, there is impressive concentration, backbone, and firm grip on the finish with a sapid aftertaste. Cellar this for 4-5 years to smooth down its edges. Drink 2027-2047’ (90-92) points, Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2024

Critic Scores

‘Medium deep crimson. A fresh pinot nose, not too intense. A mid to dark raspberry fruit on the palate albeit with a certain crispness, a little wood at the back, but a complete and once again harmonious – my Lafarge word for the vintage – finish. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Dec 2023.’ 91-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
