Tasting Notes

Wine of Vigneti Delle Dolomiti, Italy. Sustainably farmed, hand - picked. This delightful Pinot Grigio is produced from small vineyard plots on the slopes of the Dolomiti in Northern Italy, an area that is steeped in tradition with legendary castles, picturesque mountains and pristine lakes. The fresh, pure altitude and alluvional soils provide the perfect terroir, and produce fragrant, elegant white wines with minerality as the key expression.

Vinification & Cultivation

Crafted only for our premium wines

Vineyard Cultivation

Forte Alto is a premium label of Mezzacorona, the large grower cooperative based at Mezzocorona in Trentino, northern Italy, drawing on member vineyards across the Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT zone. The Pinot Grigio fruit comes from small hillside plots on the lower slopes of the Dolomites, where alluvial and glacial gravel soils sit over free-draining subsoil and warm days give way to cold alpine nights. That marked diurnal swing preserves natural acidity and drives the aromatic lift the region is known for. Vines are trained on the traditional pergola trentina and managed with an emphasis on sustainable practice. As a non-vintage blend, the wine is assembled to a consistent house style from parcels picked across the harvest window.

Vinification

Grapes are hand-picked and brought quickly to the cellar to protect freshness. For the copper-pink ramato expression, the juice takes brief contact with the grey-pink Pinot Grigio skins before pressing, lending the delicate coppery tint and red-berry note; the must is then settled and cool-fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to retain primary fruit and floral character. Fermentation runs at low temperature over an extended period, with malolactic conversion generally avoided to keep the palate crisp and mineral. The wine is held briefly on fine lees for texture, then stabilised, filtered and bottled early to capture its lively, refreshing style. No oak is used, keeping the focus on citrus, pink grapefruit and floral aromatics.
