From Lou Primavera's 2001-planted vineyard at Woori Yallock

97+ Points, Halliday's Wine Companion - "tannins that'll ensure this ages slowly and gracefully over a decade or more"

A medium-bodied wine with a bright red colour, aromas of red cherries, strawberries, and raspberries with hints of blood orange, spice, and earth, the palate is juicy and refreshing, with flavours of red fruits, spice, and minerality leading to a long and lingering finish.

Tasting Notes

Primavera is an outlier in the Giant Steps Single Vineyard series.

This vineyard sits on red clay in the Upper Yarra, a site that excels in warmer vintages. Red soils, undulating hills, the dedicated Lou Primavera tending it daily.

This is incredibly floral and seductive - perhaps the softest and most sensual of the Pinot Noirs in the single vineyard range. Stunning drinking now or, if you have the self restraint, for the cellar.

After discovering Yarra Valley wines 25 years ago Lou Primavera planted this vineyard in Hoddles Creek in 2001. We have a long-standing relationship with the Primavera family - having sourced fruit from the vineyard for some years. Testament to the increasing quality of this site, we are now producing a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Primavera.

Critic Scores

97+ Points, Philip Rich, Published 29 June 2026
From Lou Primavera's '01-planted vineyard at 300m on red volcanic soils in Woori Yallock. A deep, bright crimson. A more concentrated and brooding Primavera. Aromas of damson plum, dark raspberry, lightly crushed violets and star anise. It's concentrated on the palate, too, with persistent and textured tannins that'll ensure this ages slowly and gracefully over a decade or more. Different from but eq

The Primavera Vineyard is at Woori Yallock, at 300 metres above sea level.
What a beautiful wine. The word immaculate springs to mind. Plums, spices, florals, red cherries and peppercorns. A general succulence. A velvety veneer. Impeccable freshness. Settled, and balanced, but bright. It’s all positives here, start to finish, but it’s more than that. It’s a top flight producer turning out top flight wine. Every sip oozes confidence, class, climate and site. This is all perfume, brightness and give, within a structure, elongated context.
