Good Intentions Wine Co works with vineyards around Mount Gambier in South Australia's Limestone Coast, a region distinguished by volcanic soils derived from ancient lava flows and basalt deposits. The Volcanic Lakes vineyard benefits from the region's cool climate, with maritime influences moderating temperatures and promoting the development of fresh acidity and mineral complexity in Chardonnay. The 2022 vintage followed a temperate growing season with adequate spring rainfall and steady ripening conditions through the warmer months, contributing to balanced flavour development and natural acidity in the finished wine.

The Chardonnay was harvested at optimal ripeness and underwent whole-bunch pressing to minimise harsh extraction. Fermentation took place in a combination of stainless steel and oak, with temperature control to preserve fresh aromatics. The wine spent time on fine lees following fermentation, a practice that builds texture and complexity without requiring high oak influence. The producer employs restrained oak maturation focused on supporting fruit expression rather than imposing oak-derived flavours, resulting in a wine that emphasises Chardonnay's mineral character and Mount Gambier's terroir.
