Australia's Most Collected Wines, Wine Ark No.2 Most Collected Riesling

96 Points; Campbell Mattinson "it offers a lot. It will get better."

Beautiful lime and lemon blossom aromas, there’s layer after layer of mouth-puckering lime juice flavours, tight structure, spine-tingling acidity and shaley minerally notes that linger.

Tasting Notes

The 2025 Grosset Springvale Riesling showcases lively intensity with quintessential Clare Valley character – pure lemon-lime aromatics that fill the mid-palate with remarkable depth and power. Mouth-puckering and bone-dry, this wine delivers fine structure and a lingering, sumptuous finish that speaks to the quality of fruit achieved. Despite a warm, dry and early season, biodynamic farming and holistic vineyard management created almost oasis-like conditions at Springvale. This careful stewardship delivered pristine, flavoursome grapes from the vineyard’s distinctive red loam-over-limestone and slate soils. The result perfectly balances the site’s natural generosity with crystalline purity, demonstrating how sustainable viticulture can triumph over challenging vintage conditions to produce exceptional Clare Valley Riesling.

Critic Scores

You get flashy aromatics, mid-palate fruit flesh and intensity, and a penetrating drive of flavour through the finish. This wine is only a few months old but already, it offers a lot. It will get better. Lime juice, grapefruit, citrus peel, a keen Riverstone character and exquisite length. This is textbook in the best of ways.

Very light green-yellow colour; intense and lifted fragrance of lime leaf and lemon blossom, with a creamy pastry/yeasty overtone. The wine is likewise bright and very youthful in the mouth, concentrated, with cleansing acidity, good fruit intensity and persistence, with a hint of mid-palate richness which sets it apart. A precision wine that really sings on the tongue. 18 Jul 2025

About this Wine

Grosset

Established in 1981, Grosset Wines is independently owned and dedicated to allowing purity of fruit and region to take centre stage. “We aim to produce the best examples of variety and place. This is self-explanatory really… Riesling from the Clare Valley, expressing the dramatic differences between soft rock and hard rock sites and then differences within those broad categories; uniquely sited Semillon and Fiano, Cabernet from the coolest site in the region and of course, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from an even cooler sub-region of the Adelaide Hills,” explains owner and founder, Jeffrey Grosset.

“Purity of fruit and optimum ripeness are crucial to us, and we are not afraid to use different wine making approaches to bring the best out of each vineyard. Each is a testament to this philosophy.”

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever evolving wines
