Australia's Most Collected Wines, Wine Ark No.2 Most Collected Riesling

96+ Points, Mike Bennie - "This is peak and pitch-perfect Grosset Springvale."

Beautiful lime and lemon blossom aromas, there’s layer after layer of mouth-puckering lime juice flavours, tight structure, spine-tingling acidity and shaley minerally notes that linger.

Tasting Notes

The 2026 Grosset Springvale Riesling showcases lively intensity with quintessential Clare Valley character – pure lemon-lime aromatics that fill the mid-palate with remarkable depth and power. Mouth-puckering and bone-dry, this wine delivers fine structure and a lingering, sumptuous finish that speaks to the quality of fruit achieved. Despite a warm, dry and early season, biodynamic farming and holistic vineyard management created almost oasis-like conditions at Springvale. This careful stewardship delivered pristine, flavoursome grapes from the vineyard’s distinctive red loam-over-limestone and slate soils. The result perfectly balances the site’s natural generosity with crystalline purity, demonstrating how sustainable viticulture can triumph over challenging vintage conditions to produce exceptional Clare Valley Riesling.

Critic Scores

This is peak and pitch-perfect Grosset Springvale. Tension meets an approachable juiciness. It's redolent of all the citrus fruits, from yellow to green to orange, with green apple and blackcurrant leaf. The flavours are similarly set, with a chalky minerality chiming in. Deliciousness abounds. All of this with a quiet power, a grace, and exceptional length. In essence, it delivers on the promise of quality while nailing down drinkability. Something to strive for.

I tasted this wine with MB last weekend and thought it was really good, though I’m trying it again now in the slightly quieter environs of my home (I make most of the noise, if you’re wondering, though as my mum used to say ‘You’d make trouble in an empty room’.) Lime, white flowers, cut fennel, green cardamom, a light spicy note. Quite juicy, but there’s also a light chalky grip here, white pepper and apple cucumber coolness, lime rind, a little quinine bite and perfume on a finish of excellent length. It’s a delicious wine, and quite approachable now for my tastes, though of course it will age surely too

About this Wine

Grosset

Established in 1981, Grosset Wines is independently owned and dedicated to allowing purity of fruit and region to take centre stage. “We aim to produce the best examples of variety and place. This is self-explanatory really… Riesling from the Clare Valley, expressing the dramatic differences between soft rock and hard rock sites and then differences within those broad categories; uniquely sited Semillon and Fiano, Cabernet from the coolest site in the region and of course, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from an even cooler sub-region of the Adelaide Hills,” explains owner and founder, Jeffrey Grosset.

“Purity of fruit and optimum ripeness are crucial to us, and we are not afraid to use different wine making approaches to bring the best out of each vineyard. Each is a testament to this philosophy.”

Clare Valley

Situated in the Mid North of South Australia, approximately 120 km north of Adelaide is one of Australia's oldest wine regions the Clare Valley. The area is broken up into three sub-regions, the Polish Hill River region to the east, the Central Clare Valley, and the Skillogalee Valley to the west.

Often associated with some of Australia's finest Riesling the cool climate and differing terroirs have paved the way for exciting and diverse wines over a plethora of varietals resulting in wines of pure expression and great length. Home to some of Australia's most iconic wineries - cult producers like Wendouree, to Australian icons such as Kilikanoon and boutique producers like Atlas, the Clare Valley is definitely an area to keep an eye on for exciting and ever evolving wines
