Tasting Notes

“Le Silence et la Résonance 2023” is a 100% Riesling from Jintaro Yura (Alsace, France) that immediately asserts itself as a wine of both precision and poetry. Sourced from the limestone‑rich soils around Gueberschwihr, this wine is a fusion of stainless steel, new demi‑muids, and ceramic ageing, a combination that respects Riesling’s natural vivacity while weaving in layers of texture and complexity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, the wine offers crystalline aromas of citrus (lemon, grapefruit), orchard fruit and floral notes (honeysuckle, green apple), underpinned by flint‑like minerality and saline whispers. On the palate, the acidity is bright and sharp but balanced by weight, structure and density. Though already captivating in its youth, this Riesling promises years of development, with a finish that lingers, elegant and resonant—true to its name.

What makes the wine especially compelling is Jintaro’s background: born in Tokyo, trained as a sommelier, then working in New Zealand, Burgundy and several top Alsatian domains, he brings a cross‑disciplinary sensitivity to terroir, texture and balance in every bottle. This is not just Riesling; it is Alsace reimagined through nuance, craftsmanship and terroir respect.

Vineyard Cultivation

Jintaro Yura is a Japanese vintner who established his own tiny domaine in Gueberschwihr, in the Alsace foothills south of Colmar, after training and working in the region. The cuvee 'Le Silence et la Resonance' comes from limestone-rich soils around the village, whose calcareous geology drives the wine's pronounced minerality and vibrant acidity. Farming follows the organic, low-intervention principles typical of Alsace's new-wave natural growers. Only around 2,500 bottles are made. The 2023 Alsace season was warm but produced fresh, balanced whites, and this riesling shows a luminous, mineral-driven character built to drink now or age five to ten years.

Vinification

In a natural-wine idiom the fruit is hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with little or no added sulphur and minimal cellar intervention. Elevage is typically extended on fine lees in neutral vessels to build texture while preserving transparency and tension. The wine is bottled dry, showing intense limestone minerality, taut acidity and the quiet precision that gives the cuvee its name - the silence and the resonance.
