Longview is a single-estate, family-owned vineyard at Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills, owned and managed by the Saturno family. The Macclesfield Syrah is sourced from the estate's stony Blocks 2, 3 and 15, whose free-draining rocky soils naturally limit vigour and concentrate flavour, producing intense aromatics and fine tannin. Careful fruit selection is used to capture varietal definition and the cool-climate, spicy, medium-bodied style Longview aims for. The cooler 2022 Adelaide Hills vintage favoured elegance and perfume, and the resulting wine took the Shiraz Trophy and Red Wine of Show at the 2023 Adelaide Hills Wine Show.

Fruit was destemmed to open fermenters with 15-20% whole bunches for a short cold soak, then fermented for nine to twelve days. A small portion underwent ten days of whole-bunch carbonic maceration before being destemmed and finished as a conventional ferment, adding lift and spice, prior to blending. The wine was drained and pressed to French oak puncheons, around 15% of them new, for maturation. This restrained oak and partial whole-bunch handling gives the medium-bodied, peppery, red- and black-fruited style with fine, sooty tannins and cool acidity described by reviewers.
